Hold the mulled wines and the hot toddies – there's a new festive favourite in town. With its edge of dried fruit and more than a hint of Christmas pudding, Holly Bush is a red winter ale that'll see you through the festive period with warmth and joy in your heart.

A real malt-pleaser…

From that box of Christmas chocolates to your bed-time brew or wee dram of whiskey, warming malt flavour is everywhere in winter. So, when it came to developing a hearty winter ale for the festive period, we knew we had to go big on barley.

A blend of Crystal, Chocolate and Pale Ale malt varieties give Holly Bush a fullness of flavour that’s perfect for those cold winter nights – while Goldings and Northdown hops add sweet, fruity notes into the mix.

Brewer's notes

Brewed to 4.5% ABV and pouring a deep red colour, this Christmas cracker delights both the eye and the palate. Crystal malt gives Holly Bush its big malt character, while hints of dried fruit and subtle hop bitterness come through both on the nose and the palate, on the way to a warming, satisfying finish.

Food pairing

Temper the spice of a salmon fillet with chorizo.

The light bitterness of Holly Bush cuts right through the fat of the chorizo, while the beer's sweetness tempers the spice of the meat. That leaves the light fruity hops to complement the salmon – and the beer's bubbles to cleanse the palate.
